About this map

This is a working registry of orphanages and nurseries that operated in Vietnam before the Fall of Saigon in April 1975, compiled to help adoptees and birth families searching for information about where a child's journey began. Each marker shows what's known about that location: its pre-1975 address, who ran it, and its status today where that's been documented. Colors indicate status (still operating, closed, repurposed, or unknown), and dashed markers mark locations we could only place approximately. Search by orphanage name or by city, including "Ho Chi Minh City," which will also surface entries recorded under the historical name "Saigon." This registry is a continuing research effort and will be updated as new information comes to light.
